About the English chat room
English Chat is the room for everyone who would rather talk in English — whether that is your first language or the one you share with people from other countries. It is a live, public room: say hello, join a conversation that is already going, or start one of your own. You can send text, voice messages, images and GIFs, play songs, and much more.
Video and voice chat
Every room has video and voice built in, on a video system we built ourselves. Turn on your webcam to broadcast to the room, or start a private video or voice call with someone you are already talking to. Nothing is shared until you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time. It all runs in the browser, on a phone or a computer, with no app to install.

Is the English chat room free?
Yes. Text, voice and video are all free, with no time limit, and nothing is held back for paid accounts.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Tap Guest Access and join with a nickname. Registering is optional and only adds extras like badges and membership levels.
Can I video chat here?
Yes. Turn on your webcam to broadcast in the room, or start a private video or voice call with someone you are already chatting with. Nobody can see or hear you until you switch it on.
How do I get into the English room?
Open the chat on this page, tap Guest Access (or sign in), and pick English Chat from the room list. On a phone, tap Open the chat room first and it opens full screen.
Is it moderated?
Yes. Moderators are in the rooms and the community guidelines are enforced with bans. You must be 18 or over. Read the safety tips before sharing anything personal.
